The annual student-council-led Wind River toy and blanket drive has begun.
What: Please bring new and lightly used toys, art supplies, blankets and winter clothes.
Where: In the box at the front of the school.
When: Before December 18th
Why: To help one of the poorest areas in Wyoming this holiday!

Students finalizing visual and verbal presentation pieces.
**Groups will present their Ben Franklin posters, .ppts, and skits with the goal of teaching their peers about the aspects of this founding father that they chose to investigate.
HW: Vocabulary related to British Colonial Oppression - Students define and use vocabulary related in their own sentences.
Tuesday:
The Roots of Discontent: British Actions and Colonial Reactions.
Focusing on text structure and related note-taking forms, students build on their notes from HW to identify the stages of British taxation and oppression.
Wednesday:
"The King's Taxes" - Students demonstrate the effects of British taxation on colonists in this role-play activity performed in with Mr. Yazzolino's classes.
Thursday:
The Boston Massacre - A clash turned propaganda event. Students begin with a SIGHT primary source image analysis.
Student Play - First reading and role assignments for the reenactment of the Boston Massacre.
Friday:
1. Vocabulary Quiz
2. Revolutionary Literature - Thomas Paine's "Common Sense": Classes begin to read the infamous pamphlet that changed colonists' hearts and minds about King Charles III. Students begin transcribing "Common Sense" into their own hip-hop renditions!

Week of November 30th
Welcome back 8th grade students of History!
Our curriculum is taking us into the late colonial period and the American War for Independence! This year the 8th grade home bases are blessed to be reading "Chains" -- historical fiction dealing with the American Revolution and slavery.
Please note: No school for students this Friday.
Monday:
1. Salem Witch Trial essay tests are returned and reviewed in class.
2. Small groups will need to finalize their international demographics comparison and draw conclusions based on the data they have collected. These will go into the grade book as a current event.
3. Wit and Wisdom! We begin an examination of Benjamin Franklin's infamous almanac writings. What can these tell us about early revolutionary sentiments?
HW due Tuesday -
Students interpret four of Franklin's sayings and create their own.
Tuesday:
1. Pair/Share - Students share their HW almanac writings in small groups.
2. "Join or Die!" - A SIGHT primary image analysis of this famous political cartoon.
3. Students read in small groups - The Many Sides of Benjamin Franklin. Groups choose one aspect of the famous inventor, internationalist, writer, cartoonist, rebel. They will report to the class on Wed/Thurs.
Wednesday:
Investigation into the many sides of Franklin continues - The first 2 groups will present to the class with a visual aid (electronic or poster style), notes and their choice of a skit or lecture format.
Thursday:
Presentations will continue today. Groups are receiving a quiz grade on the process, content and delivery of their presentation.
Current Event - Student News: The President's Recently Announced Plan in Afghanistan.
