Agenda - Week of September 8th

**The first week is over and I am so happy with my incoming 8th graders! **

It was great getting to know a new group of fun, excited students.

Today, we built ancestry maps and looked for patterns of immigration and migration that led us all to the Teton Region. We also used the mandolin as an example of the many paths of American immigration and cultural adaptations in America to people and traditions from Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Mr. Wells even played a little on the mandolin.

Due on Tuesday (No school on Monday) - Completed notebook with six divided sections.

Agenda for this week:

Tuesday - All classes except 7th period in the Media Center for Ms. Swiggum's class on our revamped tech system. There are many critical skills taught here that will be used this year. If you miss this class, please remind the teacher.

Wednesday - The first Americans - Nomadic Migration from Asia, and competing theories. Students receive vocab for the first quiz today. We will also be watching a podcast of the President's address on education. We will be analyzing the content of this speech.

Thursday - Archeological sites of paleo- Indians and what they tell us forensically about where early Americans came from, when they arrived and how they lived. We will be examining how science has influenced history and vice-verse.

Friday - UWYO forensic archeologist Russell Nelson will be our guest speaker. He'll be bringing in plenty of obsidian to demonstrate how early tools were pressure-flaked.
